The Outcast. WIP. Chapter 1.

Chapter 1 - The illusion

As I opened my maw for any signs of strangers, a growl escaped the air. I turned quickly, squinting in the moonlight. There. There she was. My enemy. But, within a millisecond, she was gone. I growled, not believing the optical illusion. No response. I growled again, but louder and with more warning. Again, nothing. I sighed, as I returned back to my job, scenting the territory for anything unfamiliar.

I cut it short, promising myself to not tell anyone, and I trotted back to camp, my head hanging low. As I arrived, the welcoming scents flooded my nose. With the welcoming smiles and behaviors, I would have to leave soon. This wasn't my type of pack. I smiled at leader, who was a dark brown male, with broad shoulders, and piercing yellow eyes. I strode past the male, and found a female, with 4 little pups playing by her. Again, not my type of pack. I walked past the female and pups, seeing a black male eyeing me with is green eyes. I stared back, baring my teeth a little, giving him a warning. I continued to walk, passing by several 'Pack mates'. Once I get the chance, I'm leaving without turning back.

As the night breaks into dawn, my eyelids felt heavy. No, I must endure as my shift will be first thing. Therefore, I heaved my body up, and started my shift, earlier than I was supposed too. I left the camp without disturbing a single mouse, and walked along the edges of the territory. My ears perked, as the sound of Owls had faded, and another growl came for it's replacement. Again, I turned around, eyeing the bush. My mind wandered from name to name, trying to figure out who it was. When I leaped onto the bush, there was nothing inside. Just some bones of birds and a rotting mouse. I growled, knowing this pack was making me insane.

So, without any hesitation, I walked to the borderline, and left. Forever. This pack, will be one of the many ones I have left. And I was NEVER turning back.
